My very first piñata cake, ive been dying to make a piñata cake for a long long time. Then my son asked for a minecraft cake with MnM's inside so i got to make one, FINALLY!! Putting the sweets inside was surprisingly easy enough to do, all i did was cut a hole through the middle of the first 3 layers of the cake, fill with the candy then put the last 2 layers on top. Dont put a hole through the top layers as when you go to cover it will just sink through.
The hardest part for me was getting the squares symmetrical, next time i do one i will make the cubes in advance and place them on individually, i carved these ones in by hand and as you can see it didn't come out in straight lines.
All in all i was really happy with it and my son loved it. The figures on top are from my sons toy collection and i hand painted the squares. The cake itself is both chocolate and vanilla with chocolate fudge filling.
