Hello Kitty Cake

My version of Hello Kitty, i thought it came out really well especially when i dont like using shaped cake tins i find that half the time the cake breaks and i have to work harder to put it back together or worse make a whole new cake, so i find an image i like trace it onto parchment paper then carve around it with a sharp knife ( after the cake is refrigerated or frozen). I did this one by making one 8" round cake and one 10", i cut the 10" a little bit smaller and used the cut offs to make the ears and feet. the hands, heart, bow, bears and flower are made with fondant and i painted the rest on. All in all i was happy and so was the friends and his daughter i made it for.

Monarch aeroplane Cake

This cake was an exciting project for me, it was for my son, he is aeroplane and train mad and asked me for a monarch aeroplane cake for his birthday. he doesnt like stunt planes he loves just the normal every day planes like monarch and Britannia etc etc. I hadnt quite got the hang of carving and shaping at this stage so i decided to make a square cake with a runway and make a monarch plane with fondant. i had to have an actually toy monarch plane infront of me because my son would have noticed if the details were not right lol. but i was really pleased with how it all came out especially the plane itself, i made the cake in vanilla sponge and vanilla butter cream with fondant decorations.

Football Cake

I did this cake for my nephew who is a football fanatic. Making football cakes intimidate me because if you dont carve it properly or use a ball tin you run the risk of it not being symmetrical when you put the hexagons on there and it just doesnt look right at all, when i did this one i didnt want the cake to be round because the main attraction was the boot and ball which is why i made the cake flat on top. Making the boot was awkward at first because at the time i didnt know all the ins and outs of cake decorating so i didnt know about modelling chocolate or gum paste so i used ALOT of fondant. The fondant kept sort of shrinking and going out of shape so it took me a while to get it to the shape i wanted it. The cake was vanilla sponge with vanilla butter cream with fondant decorations. My nephew liked it so i was happy with the end result.

Albion Cake

The first time i did this cake i enjoyed doing it. i hand painted the badge and bird and i loved the way it turned out. I have made so many Albion cakes now though that they do my head in lol. The inside of the cake was vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream with a hand painted fondant badge and hand painted fondant shirts..

Thomas The Tank Cake

Next time i do a Thomas cake i will make it a whole lot easier for myself by freezing the cake fist then carving it, with this one i cut all the pieces not long after it had cooled so the cake was way to soft and moist and there were crumbs everywhere. chunks of the cake come away and everything. I was happy with the end result but it took me too long to get there lol.
The cake was vanilla sponge with chocolate butter cream and the fat controller was made with fondant.

Barbie doll cake

I never get enough of doing barbie cakes i could make them all day, i think its because every doll cake is different. making this one i had extra cake left over so i made a little fairy house for the cake. I love how creative i can be with a barbie cake. I really want to try my hand at a frozen doll cake next. out of all the cakes i make doll cake are by far my favourite to make. The inside of this cake is vanilla sponge with chocolate butter cream and fondant decorations.
