Mothers Day Cake

I got a bit over excited when i was asked to make this cake because it was the first time i would be using my new heart shaped tin and i had a whole image in my mind of how i wanted this cake to look.

I loved the idea of having the flowers down one side with the petals sort of drifting over the cake and i really like the way it came out, the only thing i think i would do different next time is have it so that the flowers look like the are flowing over and down the side of the cake instead of just on the top. but all in all i thought it was a very pretty cake and i LOVE LOVE LOVE the pearl look spray it gives such a great look to the finish of the cake. This cake is vanilla sponge with vanilla butter cream, the flowers are gum paste and i hand painted the wording. I also added pearl beading around the bottom border which i thought gave the cake a beautiful romantic feel.

Princess Cake

I loved making this cake, i had been watching how to do rose swirls for a while on youtube and i had done a few on cupcakes but was itching to try some on a full cake. I made it for my older sister who is 33. I wanted a princess theme for her as its her style but i didnt want something that looked too child like but had a hint of "young" in it lol. I had a lot of fun making this cake with the pinks and creams i would love to make another. The cake itself is made of vanilla and chocolate cake with vanilla and chocolate buttercream. The decorations are not edible they are store bought items with a pearl beading between the 2 tiers.
