Space shuttle cake

My nephews space shuttle cake, this cake is the first cake i used edible shimmer spray on and fell in love from then. i used it on the moon and thought and brought out a really cool look to the cake. i made the rocket from fondant which was easier than i thought it was going to be. the inside of the cake is vanilla sponge and vanilla butter cream, i bought the stars from my local supermaket. My nephew was really chuffed with his cake.

Christmas Santa themed cake

Christmas i my favourite time of year and Christmas themed cakes are my favourite cakes to decorate especially when i make them for my own home, i love to be able to get creative and do what i want and just let inspiration take me where ever i want to go, i googled a few christmas themed cakes and i came across one similar to this one so i had to have a go. I love the christmas grotto/cottage look, so i mad an 8" round cake and filled it then cut out a nice triangle piece and put the triangle on top of the cake to look almost like a little extension with a little chimney. I enjoyed making the santa too i had alot of fun moulding him and the reindeer. all in all this cake was simple but loads of fun to make.   :)

Chocolate Yule Tide Log

I have been making my christmas yule tide logs for a few years now and just wanted to share a picture i have of one i made last year with my fondant snow man. These have since become a tradition for me and my family, every year i get people asking me in november to make sure i have them on the chocolate log list this year lol. i feel very proud and its a big compliment to me that people love them, Im obviously doing something right lol. I think what makes my logs different is that i only ever make them with either Galaxy chocolate or Cadbury's depending on which chocolate the family member prefer.
So... this is my famous chocolate Yule tide log :) Let me know if you like it. Thanks for checking out my blog :)

Baby Bump Cake

This is cake was a proud moment for me lol I had been itching to do a baby bump cake for a long long time, i have been watching people make baby bump cakes on youtube for a while and seen it done in many different ways and i loved one that i watched where she put the foot print under the fondant to look like baby was kicking, so when i was asked to make one i knew how i wanted it to look, I wanted it girly and pretty. at the time the couple i did it for didnt know babies sex so i stuck with yellows and whites. I used alot of cake though because i wanted the bump to be as realistic as possible so i carved it down myself and instead of making the bump perfectly round i made it sort of an oval shape so it would meet up nicely with the breasts and balance out. i did the same with the breasts i carved them down so they were a nice shape, next time i do one though i will make the breasts a bit more rounded, i noticed when it was covered they look a bit flat for my liking. I loved how it all came out and how the colours tied in together and the mother was very happy with the cake too. The cake itself is chocolate with chocolate butter cream and i used fondant for the decorations. with the bow i cut out 2 strips of fondant and made sure they were the same length and width, brought each end of the strip to meet up with its opposite end and glued with water, i then put some kitchen roll screwed up into the holes of the bow for it to keep its shape, once dried i stuck the 2 loops together and used another strip of fondant to wrap around those 2 loops to form a bow, then just added 2 long strips underneath onto the cake to finish the bow look. Hope you like it, please comment below and let me know if there is anything you would of done different or any tips you have for my next baby bump cake :)

Nintendo/Scooter Cake

My version of a nintendoDS and flicker cake, when i was asked to do this cake i planned it for a while before i started it because i hadnt got a clue how i was going to make a flicker scooter to fit ontop of a cake lol. in the end i went with rice crispy treats for the DS and i used cocktail sticks and fondant for the scooter. the scooter proved to be a problem for me because the fondant kept splitting and coming off the stick, it held in the end but took a while lol. the inside of the cake is vanilla sponge with vanilla butter cream and fondant decorations, the flowers i got from asda little wafer thin flowers well worth the money if ur on a tight schedule

Cat Cake

I really enjoyed making this cake, i saw a picture on google of a similar cake and was itching to try one out, then my mom asked me to make my aunty a cat cake so i got baking. This is actually one of the easiest cakes i have made. I made 2 8" round cakes (the head higher than the body) and cut out a sort of half moon shape from the top edge of what would be the cats body, then i covered both cakes separately and then glued the head onto the body with butter cream. i made the ears, paws and tail with fondant and hand painted the detail of the cat. I loved making this one and im now dying to try out a more detailed 3d cat cake. so hopefully i will get to do one soon and i can show it to u guys. :)

SpiderMan Cake

I had a lot of problems with this cake, its quite a big cake and i made a huge mistake from the word go, i didnt have big cake tins at this time so i made 2 8" square cakes and put them together side by side and filled with chocolate butter cream, when i decorated the cake and was ready to cover it the 2 cakes started to come apart and the fondant cracked along the middle. i was so disappointed in the end result and i just didnt know how to fix it. I hand painted spidermans boy and made his head, hand and web with fondant.  i realised in the end what i did wrong, i didnt crum coat the cake and then re-coat with butter cream so its safe to say i learned a valuable lesson on this cake and i have never made the same mistake twice lol

MY FAMILY :)

Ok so ive been playing catch up lately because i only just started my blog i wanted to get all of my cakes uploaded so i can share them with all of you, but im gunna take a break from uploading my cakes and introduce you all to my little wacky family.

This is me, my beautiful son Ethan and the love of my life Matt, My life is my family, I know alot of people say family is everything but to me there is nothing else. My family is MY everything. They are the reason that i am me and the reason i get up in the morning. All my friends at school wanted to be rich and famous or have high powered careers and big houses but me?.... well i just wanted a happy family, to be a mom and have a man that loves me unconditionally. I didnt care about having alot of money. The way i see it you can be rich and very very lonely or have a family that love you and yes not have a lot of money but be rich in love. I know to alot of people that sounds so cliché and a load of cods wollop but to me its true. No my life is not perfect we have our ups and downs, we dont have alot of money or a big house and fast cars but... we have eachother and that is all we need.I have been with matt for 13 years in march (2015) and i can honeslty say i love him just as much now as i did when we first met.

We have been through the ringer these last 13 years there is alot to tell but i will leave all the details out or even start a new blog for you all to read lol, but we are a wacky lot, we laugh every day. We are not perfect... far from it, but thats us. Im thankful that i have them and i will always be thankful for them.
                                                       So thats us...MY FAMILY!

I hope you enjoyed the little tid bit i gave you into my mad little life. Thanks for taking the time to check out my Blog.  :)

Edward Cullen Cake

TEAM EDWARD!! I love the twilight saga, ive read all the books so many time the spines are coming off the books and pages are falling out, ive watched the dvds so many times i have had to buy new ones lol. So you can all imagine how excited i was when my sister asked for an Edward Cullen inspired cake, i planned this cake for weeks, i didnt know what sort of cake to make whether to do the Cullen crest or make a vampire inspired cake and then i watched a few youtube channels and decided i was gunna try my hand at a portrait. i made a normal 10" square cake and covered with fondant then i traced a picture of Edward from the internet and cut his basic shape from another piece of white fondant, then i lay the tracing paper over it and used the back of one of my paint brushes and traced over his features onto the fondant. When i took the paper away i found that the features were now embedded onto the fondant, so i then painted the features on. once done i lightly painted the shading onto his hair. Then i carefully placed the fondant  onto the cake, i say carefully because as you lift the fondant it will want to stretch so being careful is an understatement lol. after all this i painted on some vines and flowers and butter creamed a border on and ta daa! Edward Cullen. I was well happy with this one, at first i didnt know people would know who it was meant to be but everyone recognised him so i was proud. This was a chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream. the border is vanilla butter cream. I hope you all like it :)

Cici Car Cake ( roary the racing car)

I was very worried when i was asked to make this particular cake because i hadn't long been making cakes and she wanted a 3d cici cake, i hadn't made a 3d cake properly yet and to make a car cake was really worrying, i thought so much would go wrong. I did what i usually do and found a picture on the internet and traced around it, i covered the whole cake pink and cut out the detailing with different coloured fondant and hand painted the rest eg, doors and bonnet. the cake itself is vanilla sponge with vanilla butter cream. As you can see i needed alot of practice in my piped writing, but i am better at it now, i still need practice but im getting there lol. As for the cake decorating as much as i found it tricky and time consuming i was happy with the end result.

Horse Cake

I love horses so i was really excited when i got asked to do a horse cake and not just any horse cake a PINK one lol. i had alot of fun making this one. i searched horse head stencils on the internet and traced it onto parchment paper before i carved around it, if you have read my other posts you will know i dont like using shaped tins, as i said before they can be tricky to get out of the tin plus i find that doing it this way is a little bit more personal, i also like to hand paint alot of my cakes too, another little personal touch. This cake is made of vanilla sponge and vanilla butter cream with fondant decorations, the horses hair is vanilla butter cream i coloured pink with liquid food colouring.

Hello Kitty Cake

My version of Hello Kitty, i thought it came out really well especially when i dont like using shaped cake tins i find that half the time the cake breaks and i have to work harder to put it back together or worse make a whole new cake, so i find an image i like trace it onto parchment paper then carve around it with a sharp knife ( after the cake is refrigerated or frozen). I did this one by making one 8" round cake and one 10", i cut the 10" a little bit smaller and used the cut offs to make the ears and feet. the hands, heart, bow, bears and flower are made with fondant and i painted the rest on. All in all i was happy and so was the friends and his daughter i made it for.

Monarch aeroplane Cake

This cake was an exciting project for me, it was for my son, he is aeroplane and train mad and asked me for a monarch aeroplane cake for his birthday. he doesnt like stunt planes he loves just the normal every day planes like monarch and Britannia etc etc. I hadnt quite got the hang of carving and shaping at this stage so i decided to make a square cake with a runway and make a monarch plane with fondant. i had to have an actually toy monarch plane infront of me because my son would have noticed if the details were not right lol. but i was really pleased with how it all came out especially the plane itself, i made the cake in vanilla sponge and vanilla butter cream with fondant decorations.

Football Cake

I did this cake for my nephew who is a football fanatic. Making football cakes intimidate me because if you dont carve it properly or use a ball tin you run the risk of it not being symmetrical when you put the hexagons on there and it just doesnt look right at all, when i did this one i didnt want the cake to be round because the main attraction was the boot and ball which is why i made the cake flat on top. Making the boot was awkward at first because at the time i didnt know all the ins and outs of cake decorating so i didnt know about modelling chocolate or gum paste so i used ALOT of fondant. The fondant kept sort of shrinking and going out of shape so it took me a while to get it to the shape i wanted it. The cake was vanilla sponge with vanilla butter cream with fondant decorations. My nephew liked it so i was happy with the end result.

Albion Cake

The first time i did this cake i enjoyed doing it. i hand painted the badge and bird and i loved the way it turned out. I have made so many Albion cakes now though that they do my head in lol. The inside of the cake was vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream with a hand painted fondant badge and hand painted fondant shirts..

Thomas The Tank Cake

Next time i do a Thomas cake i will make it a whole lot easier for myself by freezing the cake fist then carving it, with this one i cut all the pieces not long after it had cooled so the cake was way to soft and moist and there were crumbs everywhere. chunks of the cake come away and everything. I was happy with the end result but it took me too long to get there lol.
The cake was vanilla sponge with chocolate butter cream and the fat controller was made with fondant.

Barbie doll cake

I never get enough of doing barbie cakes i could make them all day, i think its because every doll cake is different. making this one i had extra cake left over so i made a little fairy house for the cake. I love how creative i can be with a barbie cake. I really want to try my hand at a frozen doll cake next. out of all the cakes i make doll cake are by far my favourite to make. The inside of this cake is vanilla sponge with chocolate butter cream and fondant decorations.

Brother Sister Cake

This cake i did as a gift for my friends. They had just had a baby boy and already had a little girl. I wanted to do a special cake to celebrate him and congratulate them but i didnt want their daughter to feel like she was being pushed aside so i did the best of both worlds, a cake to celebrate their son AND  daughter. Top blue bottom pink. I loved how it turned out especially when i was still in the early stages of baking and i managed to make THIS cake i was very proud of myself (tap on the back for me :) ). They both loved the cake especially when it was a complete surprise neither of them expected it, i was real pleased with their reaction to it. The inside of both cakes were vanilla sponge with vanilla butter cream with fondant decoration. I hand made the baby topper and drew a crib stencil with card and cut around it with a knife.

Handbag/Purse Cake

I have since made a couple of bag cakes ( this was my first) i was very happy with the turnout of this one especially colouring the fondant ( which isnt easy with liquid food colouring) as it took me a long time to get the colour i was fairly happy with. The inside of this cake is vanilla sponge with vanilla butter cream and the decorations are fondant.

Fishing cake

One of my very first real detailed cakes. I did this when i was finally getting into my stride and learning a few tricks of my own. This cake is when i realised i was good at baking and decorating and when i really turned it all into a passionate hobby of my own.

Dalmatian cake

This is a cake i did for a good friend of mine's daughter, she really loves dogs, i mean she is besotted with them and it doesn't matter what sort of dog it it she loves them all the same. So it inly seemed fitting that i did a puppy dog cake. At that time her favourite dog was a dalmatian hence the dalmatian cake. The head and body are both chocolate cake with chocolate butter cream and the tail ears paws bone and bow are all fondant. I had a great time making this cake it was another cake i could basically do what i wanted.

Acid Face Ravers Cake

This one is an acid face raver inspired cake i did for my little brother. This is the first time i actually carved a cake. i as very happy with the way it turned out and was quite surprised at how easy it was to actually carve. as long as i put the cake in the refrigerator or freezer i had no problems. The inside of this cake is made with chocolate cake and chocolate buttercream and although im not a cake lover this cake was delicious .

Harry Potter inspired cake

Here is one of my favourite cakes that i made. I thoroughly enjoyed making this cake mainly because i was given permission to do what i wanted as long as the theme was Harry Potter. This was the first time i carved any sort of figures with fondant ( i hadn't been introduced to modelling chocolate yet) and i really like the way they all came out.
