Space shuttle cake

My nephews space shuttle cake, this cake is the first cake i used edible shimmer spray on and fell in love from then. i used it on the moon and thought and brought out a really cool look to the cake. i made the rocket from fondant which was easier than i thought it was going to be. the inside of the cake is vanilla sponge and vanilla butter cream, i bought the stars from my local supermaket. My nephew was really chuffed with his cake.

Christmas Santa themed cake

Christmas i my favourite time of year and Christmas themed cakes are my favourite cakes to decorate especially when i make them for my own home, i love to be able to get creative and do what i want and just let inspiration take me where ever i want to go, i googled a few christmas themed cakes and i came across one similar to this one so i had to have a go. I love the christmas grotto/cottage look, so i mad an 8" round cake and filled it then cut out a nice triangle piece and put the triangle on top of the cake to look almost like a little extension with a little chimney. I enjoyed making the santa too i had alot of fun moulding him and the reindeer. all in all this cake was simple but loads of fun to make.   :)

Chocolate Yule Tide Log

I have been making my christmas yule tide logs for a few years now and just wanted to share a picture i have of one i made last year with my fondant snow man. These have since become a tradition for me and my family, every year i get people asking me in november to make sure i have them on the chocolate log list this year lol. i feel very proud and its a big compliment to me that people love them, Im obviously doing something right lol. I think what makes my logs different is that i only ever make them with either Galaxy chocolate or Cadbury's depending on which chocolate the family member prefer.
So... this is my famous chocolate Yule tide log :) Let me know if you like it. Thanks for checking out my blog :)

Baby Bump Cake

This is cake was a proud moment for me lol I had been itching to do a baby bump cake for a long long time, i have been watching people make baby bump cakes on youtube for a while and seen it done in many different ways and i loved one that i watched where she put the foot print under the fondant to look like baby was kicking, so when i was asked to make one i knew how i wanted it to look, I wanted it girly and pretty. at the time the couple i did it for didnt know babies sex so i stuck with yellows and whites. I used alot of cake though because i wanted the bump to be as realistic as possible so i carved it down myself and instead of making the bump perfectly round i made it sort of an oval shape so it would meet up nicely with the breasts and balance out. i did the same with the breasts i carved them down so they were a nice shape, next time i do one though i will make the breasts a bit more rounded, i noticed when it was covered they look a bit flat for my liking. I loved how it all came out and how the colours tied in together and the mother was very happy with the cake too. The cake itself is chocolate with chocolate butter cream and i used fondant for the decorations. with the bow i cut out 2 strips of fondant and made sure they were the same length and width, brought each end of the strip to meet up with its opposite end and glued with water, i then put some kitchen roll screwed up into the holes of the bow for it to keep its shape, once dried i stuck the 2 loops together and used another strip of fondant to wrap around those 2 loops to form a bow, then just added 2 long strips underneath onto the cake to finish the bow look. Hope you like it, please comment below and let me know if there is anything you would of done different or any tips you have for my next baby bump cake :)

Nintendo/Scooter Cake

My version of a nintendoDS and flicker cake, when i was asked to do this cake i planned it for a while before i started it because i hadnt got a clue how i was going to make a flicker scooter to fit ontop of a cake lol. in the end i went with rice crispy treats for the DS and i used cocktail sticks and fondant for the scooter. the scooter proved to be a problem for me because the fondant kept splitting and coming off the stick, it held in the end but took a while lol. the inside of the cake is vanilla sponge with vanilla butter cream and fondant decorations, the flowers i got from asda little wafer thin flowers well worth the money if ur on a tight schedule

Cat Cake

I really enjoyed making this cake, i saw a picture on google of a similar cake and was itching to try one out, then my mom asked me to make my aunty a cat cake so i got baking. This is actually one of the easiest cakes i have made. I made 2 8" round cakes (the head higher than the body) and cut out a sort of half moon shape from the top edge of what would be the cats body, then i covered both cakes separately and then glued the head onto the body with butter cream. i made the ears, paws and tail with fondant and hand painted the detail of the cat. I loved making this one and im now dying to try out a more detailed 3d cat cake. so hopefully i will get to do one soon and i can show it to u guys. :)

SpiderMan Cake

I had a lot of problems with this cake, its quite a big cake and i made a huge mistake from the word go, i didnt have big cake tins at this time so i made 2 8" square cakes and put them together side by side and filled with chocolate butter cream, when i decorated the cake and was ready to cover it the 2 cakes started to come apart and the fondant cracked along the middle. i was so disappointed in the end result and i just didnt know how to fix it. I hand painted spidermans boy and made his head, hand and web with fondant.  i realised in the end what i did wrong, i didnt crum coat the cake and then re-coat with butter cream so its safe to say i learned a valuable lesson on this cake and i have never made the same mistake twice lol
